Going back to my previous post, i cannot understand why a clear-out of the chat section is not made, most of the stuff in there does not need to be retained in perpetuity, 90% of the chat section is fun/rubbish/not needed, and that's coming from me, i love the chat section, but once its been read, bin it and free up some space for a new thread.
edit:- after a quick scan, i think most of the main threads would not suffer too much from a general clean up, there are loads of non-relevant sub threads that would not be missed. This is not a personal view by me of any threads, it's just a suggestion on how to free up some space where needed.
If this forum is going to rely on other services, then there is no guarantee that those images are going to be available for any length of time.
Then upload them to your own webspace (at your ISP, at a free webhosting site) and link them from there.
Just seen this thread.
Virgin Media have already told us they are withdrawing our webspace before the end of April I had very limited facility there but at least it was enough for my needs. I don't "play" (much) on the internet.
They want us to use GoDaddy (or GayDaddy as that nice young lady on the TV advert says) which will cost quite a lot after the first year (which may well be worthwhile for those who will use it a lot).
I'll have a look at the alternatives mentioned upthread.
Well you could right click the image, do "Open image in new tab", then paste that jpg or image url (http://i.imgur.com/T6LXf6t.jpg) into the "Insert image" back here ? : [...]
Doesn't that save the image to this forum's server, which defeats the object?
Well not really. The idea is/was to have a link to the actual image within the imgur page rather than to the page itself. That should just be your original image rather than the page on imgur that contains your image. This forum will still only contain a reference or a link. The image will still be stored or 'hosted' on imgur.
I'm using chrome - it's entirely possible what I'm saying doesn't make sense on your browser if it's different.
If, for example you are using internet explorer, instead of right clicking and selecting "Open image in new tab", try (left) dragging the image until the mouse is over the location area (where you might type in a url) and dropping it there. This should cause internet explorer to display the just the image and the image url will be shown in the location area.
